sweet spicy chicken burger

ingredients (serves 1)

For the chicken patties:

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 100g flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the spicy mayo:

  • 25g mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru paste
  • 1 teaspoon honey

For assembling:

  • 4 burger buns
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red cabbage
  • 2 grated carrots
  • 1/2 sliced red onion
  • 1/2 sliced white onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Sliced jalapenos (optional)

  1. Combine flour, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Coat the chicken breast in the flour mixture, ensuring it is well coated on all sides.
  2. Preheat a pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the coated chicken breast in the pan. Cook the chicken for about 5-6 minutes per side or until it is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  3. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the spicy mayo. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, gochugaru paste, and honey. Mix well to combine.
  4. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the heat and allow it to rest for a few minutes.
  5. To assemble the dry slaw, combine red cabbage, grated carrots, sliced red and white onion in a bowl. Drizzle with lemon juice and toss to coat the ingredients evenly.
  6. Lightly toast the burger buns. Spread a generous amount of the spicy mayo on the bottom half of each bun.
  7. Place a good amount of the dry slaw on the bottom bun. Place the cooked chicken breast on top of the slaw.
  8. Top the burger with the other half of the bun and press it gently to hold everything together.
